When Priya was in secondary school, she used to hang out at CITY’s youth hub every day after school, where she would do her homework and study. The youth hub was a safe, secure and welcoming place for her, as staff were at hand to guide her and also offer an attentive listening ear whenever she needed to talk.
The youth hub also sold buns and drinks at 10 cents to the students, many of whom came from disadvantaged and underprivileged homes. CITY staff continued to follow up on Priya and kept in touch with her through the years.
Today, Priya, whose parents are divorced, is gainfully employed and enjoys her work. She is taking up different courses to equip herself, and is motivated to learn and improve herself.
